
There is a saying in art practice that roughly equates to a solution for improving artwork, “make it bigger, make it red”. Two actions that, arguably, immediately enhance the aesthetic value of a piece.
Why Red?, is it the pedagogical dogma we inure in our commodified paradigm, that promotes red as a strikingly responsive ‘colour’, or is it ‘naturally’ a signifier of heightened activity?
What colour is a green field to a newborn baby, without the conceptual understanding of ‘field’, ‘green’ or colour?

Danger, XXX, red lips, red nails, red stilettos, red phone boxes, Fire Engines, Alarms. I’m not sure how my own sensitivity to red developed, just that it did, and subsequently I am drawn to the colour like a moth to a flame.
